Bob Martinez, the fortieth Governor of Florida, served from 1987 to 1991. Martinez was elected as nonpartisan Mayor of Tampa in 1979, without a runoff; he was reelected in 1983. He served as President of the Florida League of Cities and was a member of the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities.
