This series consists of the speeches of Governor Bob Martinez from January 1987 to December 1990. The speeches reflect the Governor's position on important issues and programs. The speeches were created by the Governor in conjunction with his press office. The series also includes copies of Martinez's weekly column entitled OUTLOOK.

Robert Martinez (born December 25, 1934) is a retired American politician who was the first person of Spanish descent to be elected to the office of Governor of Florida. Bob Martinez, the fortieth Governor of Florida, served from 1987 to 1991. Martinez was elected as nonpartisan Mayor of Tampa in 1979, without a runoff; he was reelected in 1983. He served as President of the Florida League of Cities and was a member of the Board of Directors of the National League of Cities.
